SEASON UPDATE

2022-2023 Long Island Waterfowl Season

  Season Wrap Up

February 9, 2023

As many of you know, January was the warmest on record here on Long Island. This made it difficult to have success in the field or the water blinds. However, on several days, we were able to shoot our limit of geese. November and December went very well and hundreds of birds were bagged by our clients. We are beginning to put our equipment away and getting ready to band ducks in our field. As of last week, over 3000 ducks have returned to our farm and are feeding at night. Rumor has it that the bag limit will increase from two mallards to four mallards per man for next year. I will know more in a few weeks. On a positive note, the mild winter will increase the success rate of nesting ducks in the spring, as the ducks migrating back to their nesting grounds in Canada are less stressed. Coco and I hope to see you next year! Have a nice spring and summer.
